Directions to Barklin House

Directions from Columbia SC:
Take I-26 West (toward Spartanburg) and exit at Newberry Exit #76 (SC 219).  Look for the brown sign denoting the Newberry Opera House at this exit.

 Make a left turn at the exit and follow SC 219  toward Newberry about 4 miles.   SC 219  will become Main Street as it nears downtown.

In the center of downtown (7th traffic light from the interstate) College Street crosses Main Street.  (The 5-storey yellow brick Parr Building will be on your right).  

Turn right on College Street. We are on the right, the second house after the second traffic light.  Look for our white sign at curbside.  If you reach the Newberry College campus, you've missed us!
Pull into our driveway and park in front of the garage.  You're here!

Directions from Greenville:
Take I-385 East toward Columbia. I-385 will merge with I-26 at Clinton.  Continue on I-26 to Newberry Exit #72 (SC 121) and make a right turn at the exit.  SC 121 will become College Street as it nears downtown Newberry. 

NOTE:  After a couple of miles you will come to a wide intersection and the 121 by-pass goes off to the right - do not turn onto the by-pass!!  Continue straight ahead.  You will pass Rosemont Cemetery and then the Newberry College campus on your left.  

At the far edge of the campus is a traffic light at Evans Street.  We are not quite three blocks beyond that light, on your left.  We have a white sign at curbside.  If you reach the traffic light at Speers Street/Calhoun Street, you've missed us!   Pull into our driveway and park in front of the garage.  You're here!

Directions from Augusta Through Saluda:

Take I-20 to Exit #5 (SC 121) toward Johnston.   Follow SC 121 for about 55 miles through Johnston and Saluda to Newberry.  

As 121 enters Newberry it becomes Boundary St.  Stay on Boundary Street and cross Nance Street at the light.  Go three more blocks to College Street.  Make a left turn onto College Street and continue across Main Street and about two more long blocks to Barklin House.  After Main Street, it is the second house on the right after the second traffic light.   Look for our white sign at curbside.  If you reach the Newberry College campus, you've missed us!  Pull into our driveway and park in front of the garage.  You're here!

Directions from Atlanta via Greenville:

Take I-85 North towards Greenville, SC.  Exit onto I-385 towards Columbia.  I-385 will merge with I-26 East just before Exit #52 (the Clinton exit) on I-26.  From that point continue on I-26 E to Exit # 72 (SC 121) and make a right turn at the exit.  SC 121 will become College Street as it nears downtown Newberry.

Directions from the Charlotte area:

Take I-77 South to Exit #65 (Chester).  Keep right at the fork to go on SC 9-N.  Go about 9.6 miles and  turn left onto the "BYPASS"   This is a tricky intersection.  Look for signs listing US 321 BYPASS, SC 121 BYPASS, SC 72 BYPASS, SC 9 BYPASS or SC 97 BYPASS.

Go about 3.1 miles on the BYPASS then turn left on SC 121/SC 72 and continue to follow SC 121 toward Newberry, being sure to bear left when 121 goes into Whitmire.  As you near Newberry, SC 121 becomes College Street.
