Common Areas

A full breakfast is served in the dining room, where the large windows make even the grayest mornings cheerful.
Breakfast can be served to meet your schedule - as early as six o'clock (yawn) or as late as ten a.m. Let us know your preferred time. Also let us know if you have any special dietary needs or food dislikes, so we can make your stay more enjoyable.

Busy guests may request lighter fare served from the sideboard. Summer-time weekenders might opt for breakfast on the porch. We frequently offer dessert around 8:30 in the evening. Look on the sideboard in the downstairs hall for cookies, sherbet, cake or whatever might have been baked that day.
Guest rooms are all upstairs. You will marvel at the lovely woodwork as you head to your room.

Relax in the upstairs sitting-hall furnished with wicker chairs for reading. We can provide a table just right for puzzles, games and cards.
The refrigerator in the sitting hall is stocked with cold beverages for your enjoyment. Feel free to partake of the soft drinks and spring water. There is a basket of snacks for your late-night munching. There is also a coffee-maker and an electric kettle available for preparing hot tea, cider and cocoa....
A telephone is available for guest use. Local calls are free and you may place long-distance calls using your phone card. The phone is a cordless one, so you may carry it to your room for privacy just remember to return it to keep the battery charged.
If you have an interest in local dining, there is a notebook of menus from most of the nearby restaurants in each guest room, as well as a copy at the registration desk downstairs. Please ask for suggestions and directions.
Barklin House is home to our cat, DB. If you do not enjoy the company of cats, please tell us and we will make every effort to keep her out of your rooms.
The common areas provided for our guests include
the front porch with its rockers and swing. We also provide a spacious back-yard deck, chaise and lawn chairs for your leisure hours. The rear garden has been certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat and is graced with old-fashioned perennials and shrubs.
